The purpose of the position is to effectively manage all receiving, storage, engineering, integration, customization, safety, quality and shipping activities related to supporting customers’ requirements. This position is responsible to influence on-time delivery and costs by effectively planning and managing resources. The mission of the Director is to provide leadership and coordination to a diverse personnel team and operations processes that support all company businesses. Operations must be managed in such a way to maximize efficiencies and productivity, optimize labor cost expenditures, and ensure safe operating practices and full compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.


  • Oversee all areas of operations and the leadership and development of all associates.   
  • Optimize operations structure and resources.   
  • Develop and review productivity standards for associates in: picking, shipping, maintaining accurate and timely inventory control systems data, receiving and material handling.          
  • Provides planning assistance with physical inventories and provides staffing to perform these activities.       
  • Develops statistical reports detailing activities in areas of responsibility.     
  • Develops operating budgets for supporting areas and maintains records to ensure compliance within budgeted numbers. 
  • Ensure fully developed staff is in place to effectively manage the business.
  • Develops, directs and coordinates activities of subordinate leaders in supporting the sales and marketing effort of the company. 
  • Develops standard operating procedures and job descriptions in accordance with company specifications.         
  • Maximizes warehouse space by selling stranded space to other companies and providing shipping and receiving services to customers.
  • Contacts and fosters relationships with companies and actively seeks out and closes on opportunities. Coordinates appropriate activities with finance and legal departments; implements organizational structures to support customers; implements metric to measure customer support. Maintains warehouse operations as a profit-center.     
  • Analyze skill set of existing staff, identify strengths and deficiencies and develop plan to improve or replace personnel as appropriate.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to all staff for continual improvement of key functions and activities to improve efficiency and meet increasing customer and business demands    
  • Ensures labor is redeployed as required to meet each days business needs, minimize overtime and reduce labor costs. 
  • Maintains a professional, helpful attitude in dealings with co-workers, supervisors and their departmental personnel at all times.        
  • Responsible for managing the administrative tasks of validating timekeeping punches and correcting missed punches, working with Human Resources and company leadership for employee actions needed, executing corrective actions and implementing corrective changes to meet the required timelines outlined in the process document and executing strategic plans, developing employee developmental plans.   
  • Demonstrates company values as documented in the strategic plan and employee handbook. Focuses on driving quality, protecting the brand, and excellence in staff.    
  • Promote, provide and maintain excellent customer service.   
  • Promote a safe and harmonious work environment while adhering to company policy and pocedures.   
  • Maintain compliance with S.Q.F. 2000 – Level 3.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge to implement and support various change management activities needed to improve the organizations effectiveness
  • Knowledge of principles, methods and problems of warehouse operating functions
  • Knowledge of general computer functions such as Microsoft Office programs, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Knowledge of inventory control methods and systems
  • Skill in defining objectives and strategies to meet customer requirement and organizational goals/objectives
  • Skill in developing strategic plans, metrics, and employee developmental plans
  • Ability to manage budgets and reduce costs.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workloads with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to provide motivational support to recognize and reward people for their achievements
  • Ability to identify what needs to be done and take action before problems arise

Minimum Requirements

  • BS/BA degree and relevant training
  • Minimum of 7 years of management experience in warehouse operations
  • Warehouse experience required; manufacturing and/or dairy experience preferred
