The Pilot Plant Manager is responsible for all Pilot Plant operations at company’s three manufacturing locations.  This includes maintenance, scheduling and planning of R&D pilot plant on site to ensure that R&D pilot activities within the facility achieve quality, safety, and delivery targets. Career path would be promotable into production plant roles.


  • Manage pilot plant trial schedules to meet the project timelines.
  • Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and organized in pilot plants
  • Keep inventory and maintenance records of all equipment
  • Manage inventory of parts across the company network
  • Execute/oversee repairs and services of lab equipment
  • Oversee pilot plant operations budget. Apply process engineering and food safety principles for conducting trials.
  • Establish process parameters, limits and performance criteria.
  • Provide support for scale-up factory trials and identify and recommend solutions for the scale-up factory trials.
  • Write technical report on the trial observations and trial results.
  • Manage contractor works requirement in pilot plant and GMP area.
  • Conduct internal and external benchmarking to implement best practices in the pilot plant.
  • Provide technical expertise for designing pilot plant trials.
  • Proposes, coordinates and implements capital and facility expenses for plant updating and improvements.
  • Determines priorities; processes work efficiently; conveys clear expectations for assignments; establishes clear agendas and desired outcomes; prepares for and conducts successful meetings; and follows up promptly after meetings.
  • Responsible for adhering to all quality system requirements.
  • Follows plant rules and complies with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Guaranteeing compliance with health and safety rules, food law and legislation.
  • Responsible for implementing and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Must be flexible with work schedule, work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • 10-25 % travel is normal


  • BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with 0-8 years of experience in CPG Process Development or Engineering or AA degree with comensurate experience
  • Fermentation and aseptic experience a plus.
  • Experience working in pilot plant management, process development or production management in food products.
  • A demonstrated track record of driving exceptional results and key deliverables
